The Twelfth Day of Christmas

Immediately going back on their promise to help, our heroes jumped behind a large peanut to hide.

The Big Red rolled his eyes and withdrew an enormous candy cane from his back pocket, deflecting the Saint's blow. Then he rocketed into the air and over Saint Nick. He turned quickly in an attempt to strike his back with his candy cane, but the Saint turned and deflected him.

"Brave, but fooling, my old red haired friend," he said. "As you can see, my Christmas powers are far beyond yours. Now, back down." Saint Nick shot a blast of peanuts out of his hand at The Big Red which he blocked with his candy cane.

"You have become powerful, Saint. I sense the peanut side in you."

"I have become more powerful than any peanovice. Even you. You must join me, The Big Red, and together we will destroy the peanut siders."

"I'll never join you Saint!" screamed The Big Red, lunging at Nick.

     "Master Red, you disappoint me."

The Saint ducked and slashed at The Big Red's legs. He jumped over the Saint's slash and swung his candy cane down onto Nick's back. The Saint froze, staggered, and fell to the ground bursting into a pile of peanuts.

"Woah," said Holden as he stepped out from his hiding space. "The Big Red, that was crazy cool yo. Hey, if you could beat him all by yourself, why did we have to stick around?"

     "Get... out..."

     "What?" asked Holden.

     "GET OUT!"

Everyone stood up and sulked out into the snow, leaving The Big Red and the other Dlanors behind.

     Later that evening...

Holden sat alone by the open fire of his new log cabin which he had procured through entirely legal means. He once again had invited his friends to a Christmas party and was, once again, anxiously awaiting their arrival.

"Where the heck is everyone?!" Holden finally said. He had been waiting all night and nobody had showed. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. "Someone came! It's a Christmas miracle!"

Holden raced to the door and threw it open.

"I've got some mail for a Mr. Secretbees." It was the mailwoman (we're progressive).

"Letters? Oh boy! Maybe they're presents! Wow, look, there's so many. I'm gonna be rich!"

Holden took the letters and slammed the door in the mailman's face. He spread the envelopes out on the table. There was one from each of his friends. He opened Carl's letter first.
"What the hell Carl!? No present?" He opened and read the rest of the letters.
"That's it," he said. "There all gone. Nobody is coming, and I didn't even get any presents." Tears began to well up in his eyes as he sat there looking down at the pages of excuses.

"Now that," said The Big Red as he used a pair of binoculars to watch Holden cry from an open field in the distance, "is what I call the perfect Christmas present. What do you all think?" He turned to the cheering crowd which was made up of mostly Dlanors as well as all of Holden's friends. "Merry Christmas everyone! Well, except to Holden. Let's party!"
