Part 4 originated as a special. The authors decided that they wanted to continue Holden's story beyond the first trilogy of parts, and they chose to make their first story beyond Part 3 an explanation of the missing seven years in Part 2. Confused yet? Well, this is a time travel story, so get ready for a lot of confusion.
Following the completion of Number Middle of Two, the two authors decided that the part had become too large, as well as too important to the story, to be a special. So, Number Middle of Two became Part 4, and no specials were introduced until The Complete Adventures of Holden Secretbees: Jake's Edition, which included Holden Secretbees: The Video Game: The Story and Ho Ho Holden: A Very Holden Christmas.
In Part 4, Holden explains to the ready what really happened in the seven year period he was supposedly fighting Mercution in Doom Mountain. It turns out this was sort of a lie, and Holden was actually on a huge, multi-dimensional and time travel adventure.
Though rather odd, this part introduces and further develops some key characters and concepts that would become important as the series.
